British Airways Boeing 747 has broken the record for the fastest subsonic transatlantic flight between New York and London on Saturday. The flight between John F Kennedy Airport, New York and Heathrow Airport, London which usually takes more than six hours was completed by the aircraft in just four hours and 56 minutes.
The speed of the Boeing reached upto 1,327 km/h after being assisted by jet stream created by Storm Ciara. The previous record for the fastest subsonic transatlantic flight was held by Norwegian Boeing 787 which completed the journey in five hours and 13 minutes.
At supersonic speed, British Airways Concorde holds the record for the shortest flight duration on the route when it completed the journey in just two hours and 52 minutes in 1996.
