Himalaya Airlines has started direct flights to Chongqing, China with its first flight on the route on Thursday. The flight H9 78 departed for Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 9:40 am (local time) and arrived at its destination at 3:26 pm (local time). The return flight took off for TIA at 5:00 pm (local time) and landed at TIA at 7:15 pm (local time).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai, tourism secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Director General Rajan Pokharel and Chinese ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi among others.
Apart from Chongqing, the airlines conducts direct flights to four other Chinese destinations – Beijing, Guiyang, Changsha, and Shenzhen and is planning to operate direct flights to Lhasa in near future.
Himalaya Airlines will be conducting three weekly flights to Chongqing with its Airbus A320 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
