Historically known as Garden of Six Seasons, it was built by late field Marshal Kaiser Shumshere Rana in early 1920s. Back then, the garden was considered as one of the most sophisticated private gardens since the six pavilions of the garden represented six different seasons. However, only less than half of the garden exists today. After the demise of the king, the garden was handed over to the government of Nepal—leaving the place to be ignored and unmanaged.
Later on, the Garden of Dreams restoration project financed by the Austrian Government was successful and today sits the Garden of Dreams to cherish the souls of thousands of peace lovers. Today, Garden of Dreams is considered as one of the most attractive tranquil oasis, tourism landmark as well as natural library where visitors can take advantage of natural beauty inter related with historical and architectural flavor.
This beautiful location is spaced in northwestern corner of the Kantipath and Narayanipath junction. A few hundred meters west of the junction lies the main entrance to the garden in between high walls. As soon as you enter the gate, you will encounter a ticket counter where you need to pay certain amount of fee to enter the garden. The ticket price is NRs. 100 for Nepali citizens and NRs. 200 for foreign nationals. Children and people above 70 need to pay half of the ticket price. If you want to use the Wi-Fi facility inside the periphery of the garden, you have to pay NRs. 50 per hour. The garden is opened daily from 9 am to 10 pm and is accessible till 9 at night.
