A chartered Qatar Airways flight airlifted 300 Americans stranded in Nepal on Sunday. This is the second flight to evacuate American citizens from Nepal, the previous flight being on March 31st which carried 302 Americans to the United States. The evacuation flight by South Korea was pushed back from Sunday to the end of this week while the UK is also preparing to airlift its citizens from the country.
On Saturday, four flights carrying around 800 tourists stranded in Nepal departed to France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Malaysia on two Qatar Airways, one Malindo Air and one Malaysian Airlines flight. Germany, France and other European countries have previously conducted evacuations flights to airlift stranded Europeans from the country.
More than 2500 foreign citizens have been repatriated through chartered flights since the lockdown issued by Nepal Government to combat the COVID 19 pandemic.
